In January, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 2,331,000 and 2,456,000 units respectively, down 10.7% and 7.4% than that of last month, but up 12.5% and 10.7% year on year, 1.1 percentage points and 0.9 percentage points lower than the overall growth.
As for the passenger cars by type, comparing with the same period last year, except that SUV continued rapid growth, of which the production and sales were up 22% and 22.9%, the cars also enjoyed growth, while others witnessed decline. To be specific, the production and sales of cars were up 10.8% and 7.3% respectively. For MPV, the production and sales were down 5.2% and 13.4%. The situation of crossed passenger cars was even worse, of which such figures decreased by 43.8% and 30%.
Affected by the stop of purchase tax preferential policy, the market share of passsenger cars with engine capacitly of 1.6L and below is lower than last year. In January, the sales reached 1,696,000 units, down 7.1% year on year. The sales accounted for 69.1% of the total sales of passenger cars, 1 percentage point lower than the same period last year. Such figures for Chinese brand passenger cars were 864,000 units, up 8.2% year on year.
