In March, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 2,199,000 and 2,169,000 units respectively, up 52.8% and 47% than that of last month, and up 0.5% and 3.5% year on year, 0.6 percentage points and 1.2 percentage points lower than the whole industry on yearly growth.
For the first three months, the production and sales of passenger cars were 5,969,000 and 6,100,000 units respectively, down 2.3% in production but up 2.6% in sales year on year. As for the passenger cars by type, comparing with the same period last year, except that SUV continued growth, of which the production and sales were up 7.1% and 11.3%, others all witnessed decline. To be specific, the production of cars was down 5.8% (while sales up 0.8%). For MPV, the production and sales were down 16.5% and 13.9%. The situation of crossed passenger cars was even worse, of which such figures decreased by 37.1% and 37.2%.
In March, the sales of passenger cars with engine capacity of 1.6L and below reached 1,460,000 units, up 0.4% year on year. The sales accounted for 67.3% of the total sales of passenger cars, 1.9 percentage points lower than the same period last year. For the first three months, the sales of passenger cars with engine capacity of 1.6L and below reached 4,166,000 units, down 0.4% year on year, 2 percentage points lower than the same period last year, accounting for 68.3% of the total sales of passenger cars. Such figures for Chinese brand passenger cars were 2,222,000 units, up 4% year on year.
