In August, the automobiles decreased slightly comparing with a year earlier. This month, the production and sales of automobiles in China reached 2,000,000 and 2,103,000 units respectively, down 2.1% in production but up 11.3% in sales than that of last month, and down 4.4% and 3.8% year on year. The current period inventory was 105.2%, and the inventory pressure decreased.
　　For the first eight months, the production and sales of automobiles were 18,135,000 and 18,096,000 units respectively, up 2.8% and 3.5% year on year. The growth fell 0.7 percentage points and 0.8 percentage points than the first seven months. Though the sales growth rate continued to come down, the overall performance was still in line with forecast at the start of this year.
