China's motor vehicle registrations in 2019

As of the end of 2019, the number of small passenger vehicles has reached 220 million, an increase of 19.26 million or 9.4% compared with the end of 2018. The number of new energy vehicles reached 3.81 million, accounting for 1.5% of the total number of vehicles. Compared with the end of 2018, there was an increase of 1.2 million vehicles, an increase of 46.1%. Among them, there are 3.1 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 81.2% of the total number of energy vehicles, and the increase in new energy vehicles has exceeded 1 million for two consecutive years.

There are 14 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in the country with more than 10 million motor vehicles, namely Guangdong, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Hebei, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan, Anhui, Guangxi, Hubei, Fujian, Liaoning. There are more than 20 million motor vehicles in the four provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) of Guangdong, Shandong, Henan and Jiangsu. There are more than one million vehicles in 66 cities, and more than 2 million vehicles in 30 cities.
