Mr. Shi Jianhua, Deputy Secretary General of CAAM, attended the 16th APEC Automobile Dialogue (Hereinafter referred to as AD) in Russia from 27-29 May, 2012. More than 80 delegates from a dozen countries participated in the meeting, including Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, China Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, India, etc. The meeting was hosted by Russia, which was also the rotating presidency of APEC.
The working groups of Market Access, Regulation Coordination and Road Safety, Customs and Trade Facilitation, and the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises introduced the negotiation process of free trade zone within APEC member countries, the process of coordinating the global technical regulations of WP29, and the plans of promoting cooperation among small and medium-sized enterprises, etc. The meeting also reviewed partial content of the Ministerial Statement of last APEC meeting with respect to the promotion of the new energy vehicles in the Asian-Pacific region.
The delegates exchanged views regarding to the mentioned topics and proposed a number of revision suggestion. The meeting also determined the 17th APEC Automobile Dialogue would be held in Vladivostok of Russia.
At the invitation of China Great Wall Motor Company, Mr. Shi Jianhua visited automobile dealerships after AD. Both sides discussed the developing strategy in Russia of Great Wall Motor and the opportunities and challenges of stepping forward to become global of China independent auto enterprises.
