On Oct. 30th to 31st, 2012, the 17th APEC Automotive Dialogue Meeting (hereinafter referred to as AD) was held in St. Petersburg, Russia. A group of five people attended this meeting including Xu Haidong (Director of Trade Coordination Department, CAAM), Hu Jingyao (Business Manager of Trade Coordination Department), He Peng (Manager of Technology Department, CAAM), Yu Weizhen (Deputy Director of Automobile Office of Equipment Department, MIIT) and Zou Yuan (Vice Professor of School of Materials Science and Engineering of Beijing Institute of Technology). Besides, there were delegates from a dozen countries participating in the meeting, including Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, China Taiwan, Thailand, America, Vietnam, etc. The meeting was hosted by Russia, which was also the rotating presidency of APEC.
Chinese Delegation in AD
The meeting was divided into several working groups which were Market Access, Regulation Coordination and Road Safety, Electrical Vehicles, Customs and Trade Facilitation and Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. On the meeting, each country introduced its own research situations when making special reports. Moreover, all delegates made discusses on key issues.
The 17th APEC Automotive Dialogue Meeting
Chinese delegation made three special reports altogether, which were “Industrial Development Planning for Energy-Saving and New Energy Cars”, “Standard System Construction for Electrical Cars” and “Development of Auto Parts Remanufacturing Industry”. Besides, the delegation advised AD to jointly develop a research on Influences on Transportation and Power Grid Construction to Develop Electrical Cars in Big Cities, for which a heated discussion was carried out among delegates.
The meeting also determined the 18th APEC Automotive Dialogue Meeting would be held in Indonesia in April, 2013.
