The date of July 15th, 2013 was the 60th birthday of Chinese automotive industry. On such a memorable day, the symposium on the development of Chinese brand automobiles was held in Changchun, the cradle of Chinese automotive industry. This symposium was guided by CMIF and jointly organized by CAAM, SAE-China, Automotive Branch of CCPIT, CATRC, China Automotive News and China FAW Group Corporation. The Minister of MIIT Mr. Miao Wei, along with some representatives of auto manufacturers including FAW, DFM, SAIC, etc. attended this symposium.

The past 60 years witnessed an extraordinary development for Chinese automotive industry. Starting from scratch, Chinese automotive industry was developing gradually from a small auto country to the largest auto country in sales and production. Its pioneer FAW, along with other domestic auto manufacturers, has written a 60-year remarkable glory of Chinese automotive industry. Standing at such an important historical point to review our automotive industry, there were still lots of problems in the process of building China into an auto power. On the one hand, problems caused by resource, energy, environment and transportation have restricted the further development of Chinese auto industry. On the other hand, the Chinese brands were at a competitive disadvantage compared with foreign brands due to late start and weak foundation of Chinese auto industry. Facing these problems, the symposium had a important significance in summarizing the history and forging ahead into the future. As the cradle of Chinese automotive industry, the 60-year history of FAW was an epitome of development and growth of Chinese automotive industry. On behalf of auto manufacturers, the President and Party Secretary of FAW Mr. Xu Jianyi reported the development of FAW over the past 60 years. Meanwhile, the representatives reviewed the 60-year process of Chinese automotive industry as well. This symposium made the whole industries strengthen their conviction on sustainable development of Chinese brand as well as building China into an auto power in global competition, especially for those key enterprises.
