APEC 2014 the 21st Automotive Dialogue Successfully Held in Shanghai

On Sep 17th to 19th 2014, APEC the 21st Automotive Dialogue was successfully held in Shanghai, organized by MIIT and co-organized by CAAM. Over 140 representatives from 10 economic entities attended this meeting. They were participants from China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and America. Meanwhile, the Secretariat of APEC and SIAM were also invited to participate in.

The rotating Chairman of APEC AD, Mr. Zhang Xiangmu, Chief of Equipment Department of MIIT, attended the meeting and delivered an opening speech. Besides, the Director of Shanghai Economic and Information Commission Mr. Li Yaoxin and the Deputy Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Shi Jianhua delivered welcome remarks.
        In his speech, Mr. Shi Jianhua introduced the current situation of Chinese automotive industry and informed the fruitful results achieved in the last AD meeting held in Beijing this April. This May, the MRT (Ministers Responsible for Trade) Meeting approved the China proposal “Asia-Pacific Region Automotive Industry Sustainable Development Declaration” endorsed and submitted by the 20th AD and wrote it to APEC “Qingdao Declaration”.
        APEC secretariat representative introduced some APEC projects, especially the project "analyzing the effectiveness of policy instrument in promoting new energy vehicles” proposed by China and co-sponsored by Chinese Taipei and Malaysia. This project has been approved by the 20th AD and CTI as well as gets financial support from APEC. The representative stressed that it was the first funding support project for APEC AD meeting since its establishment. He highly praised China's efforts on it and wished the project a full success.
 

Meeting Site

During the 21st AD, the representatives of each economic entity took in-depth exchange and discussion on market access, standards and regulations, auto parts, auto industrial talent exchange and new energy vehicles. The meeting unanimously approved proposals "building auto industrial talent exchange mechanism in Asia-pacific region" and "analyzing business pattern in promoting new energy commercial vehicles in Asia-Pacific region" proposed by China and suggested to submit to CTI.
        The second automotive dialogue seminar themed with "Green Drive, Win-win Cooperation—International Experience on New Energy Vehicle Promotion" was held during the same period. The meeting also arranged the delegates to visit Shanghai Jiading New Energy Automobile City.
