Collaborative Fund Symposium
To attract and transfer social science and technology to carry out key basic research on Chinese automotive industry and to better promote the sustainable development and innovative capacity, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) and National Natural Science Foundation of China united eight OEMs which were FAW, DFM, SAIC, CCAG, GAC, Brilliance, JAC and SINOTRUK to set up a collaborative fund for innovation and development of Chinese automotive industry (hereinafter referred to as auto collaborative fund). This fund planned to invest 195 million RMB in five years to support basic research with important scientific significance and applied value related to auto electrification, lightweight, intelligence and informationization, based on the principle of fair competition.
On Apr. 7th, the symposium and signing ceremony of “auto collaborative fund” was held at China Hall of Science and Technology. The symposium was hosted by the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang. Some leaders from National Natural Science Foundation of China and representatives from eight OEMs participated in. Mr. Dong Yang, Ms. Gao Ruiping (Deputy Director of National Natural Science Foundation of China) and legal representatives of the above-mentioned eight OEMs signed on the Agreement. Government officials from MOST and MIIT, leaders from CMIF and SAE-China, as well as institutional and academic representatives attended this symposium and witnessed the signing ceremony. The Agreement ruled on the overall principle, investment and management, project implementation and management, research outcome and intellectual property.

The setting up of this fund was a beneficial trial to attract and transfer social science and technology and a significant innovation to strengthen R&D in the automotive industry. It would play an active role in promoting the industrial sustainable development and self-innovative capacity.
