On Oct. 21st to 23rd, the Deputy Secretary General Mr. Shi Jianhua went to Bangkok to attend OICA Council Meeting, Round Table and General Assembly, which was hosted by the Thai Automotive Industry Association.
OICA Council Meeting
OICA is the only international organization and representative of global auto industry, which is composed of national auto associations with members covering all major auto manufacturing countries. Its primary missions include publishing data of global auto sales and production, number of vehicle in use, and Google maps, studying on common issues, participating in implementation of technical regulations under UN WP29, enhancing global standard harmonizing progress, promoting technical innovation as well as organizing auto exhibition certification.
As usual, the OICA Round Table was held ahead of the General Assembly. This year, two subjects were discussed on the Round Table. The first part focused on the auto market of ASEAN, in which JAMA, KAMA, VDA and Alliance were invited to share each own successful experience in this region. The second part aimed at reviewing recent trends and forecasts of those major auto markets. CAAM was invited in this session to update the situation of Chinese auto market, including the sales and production of the first three quarters, the development of new energy vehicles, government policies related to auto industry and annual forecast.
OICA General Assembly
On the General Assembly, the representatives reviewed the contents and results of the Round Table and discussed the possible topics for the next one. Besides, the Assembly approved a series of proposals concerning financial report, OICA study and motor show calendar.
CAAM, as the permanent OICA Council member, actively participated in the major activities organized by OICA in recent years to build good relations with other members.
