2016 New Energy Vehicles and Industrial Development Symposium Held in Beijing

On Mar. 10th, organized by CAAM, “2016 New Energy Vehicles and Industrial Development Symposium” was held at China Hall of Science and Technology. Mr. Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of CPPCC and Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Chen Qingtai, Director General of China EV100, and Mr. Xu Shanda, Head of SEEC Research Institute and Former Deputy Chief of State Administration of Taxation attended this symposium. Nearly a hundred participants including automotive representatives of the two sessions, CPPCC members, government officials, leaders of automotive-related enterprises and the media attended the symposium.

The symposium was hosted by the Executive Vice Chairman of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang. He firstly reported the situation of the automotive industry in the first two months. He pointed that in recent years, the electric vehicles enjoyed a repaid development with powerful policy support and effective promotion. Moreover, such improvements could be seen in terms of technologies and matching facilities. Even though, there were still some problems to be noted, like safety, local protectionism and cheating behavior to acquire subsidies.

Mr. Wan Gang affirmed the communicating function of this symposium. He pointed out that the positive development and good achievements of new energy vehicles were the joint efforts made by the government, auto enterprises, consumers and the media present. Meanwhile, he also mentioned the current pressing situation. Due to the factors of emission issue and energy consumption limits, it was imperative for the development of new energy vehicles. Besides, he emphasized the matter of safety, especially the safety of batteries. Finally, he said as the pillar industry and close to our life, the automotive industry must lead innovation and contribute to green development. He believed our industry could bear such responsibility to push forward the development of related works.

Besides, several representatives expressed their views on issues concerning electric vehicles, power battery, key parts, etc.
